Meet Caitlin
Caitlin, widely known as “Cybersecurity Girl”, is one of the leading cybersecurity influencers on social media and a trusted voice in digital safety, cybersecurity awareness, and online scam prevention. With a global audience of more than 2.1 million followers across platforms, Caitlin has built a powerful educational platform dedicated to helping people stay safe online and understand the real-world impact of cybersecurity.
Her work focuses on three core missions. First, educating the public on how to protect themselves from cyber threats, scams, and digital risks. Second, demystifying cybersecurity and encouraging more people to enter the field, helping address the growing global cybersecurity talent shortage. Third, inspiring more women to pursue careers in STEM, particularly in cybersecurity.
Through clear and engaging educational content, Caitlin simplifies complex cybersecurity topics so everyday users can understand and protect themselves online. Her content covers topics such as phishing, online scams, digital privacy, social engineering, identity theft, and cyber hygiene.
As part of her continued mission to protect people from scams, Caitlin is developing ScamTrainer, an educational initiative focused on helping people train their friends, parents, and loved ones to recognize and avoid phone scams, phishing attempts, and other common fraud tactics. ScamTrainer focuses on practical scam awareness and real-world cyber safety education that anyone can apply.
Prior to becoming a full time cybersecurity educator and content creator, Caitlin led TikTok’s Global Cybersecurity Advocacy and Culture team. In this role, she was responsible for advancing both internal and external cybersecurity awareness, education, and security culture across the organization.
Before joining TikTok, Caitlin spent nearly a decade in cybersecurity consulting. She began her career at EY as a Cybersecurity Consultant, where she performed large scale global cybersecurity awareness assessments across 20 key cyber sectors. She also served as an ISO 27001 lead implementer and worked on cybersecurity frameworks including NIST CSF, NIST SP 800 53, and Cyber Essentials Plus.
Caitlin later transitioned into data protection and privacy, helping organizations secure high value assets using Data Loss Prevention technologies. She relocated to London where she focused on data privacy consulting and GDPR preparation and compliance.
After returning to the United States, Caitlin joined the global law firm DLA Piper as a Senior Manager specializing in cybersecurity and data privacy consulting. She later advanced to a Director role at Protiviti.
Looking ahead, Caitlin is also building Cybersecurity Girls, a growing community initiative focused on supporting and encouraging the next generation of women in cybersecurity. Cybersecurity Girls aims to create a supportive network where women interested in cybersecurity can learn, connect, and build confidence as they explore careers in the field.
Through education, awareness, and community building, Caitlin continues to work toward her mission to educate the public, demystify cybersecurity, and inspire the next generation of cybersecurity professionals.
Back in June of 2023, Caitlin took a bold step, and left her corporate job to fully commit to her true passion, Cybersecurity Girl LLC, where she will continue to influence, and empower cybersecurity for all by helping the public safeguard their online world, and inspire tomorrow's defenders.
